The New York Times April 9, 2018 "The Jamaican Who Isn’t Sure He Wants to Play for Jamaica" By Rory Smith TNYT Post Link Leon Bailey Butler is a Phenomenal young player that is currently playing forBayer Leverkusen a German soccer club. Leon Bailey is a Jamaican that is 20 years old and he is worth over 45 million Euros. He grew up on Kingston, Jamaica with an adoptive father Craig Butler. His first professional club to ever join was Genk a Belgium club later on he was wanted by many big name clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea. He then signed a 20 million contract deal with Bayer Leverkusen and was nominated as the Young Footballer of the Year award. His goal in the Europa League against Rapid Wien on 15 September 2016 was chosen as the top goal of the competition for the 2016–17 season by UEFA. Leon Bailey is currently struggling to choose a National team to play for and represent in the future. In soccer there is a time where you must choose a national team to represent in the World cup. He is deciding to play for England,Germany, or Jamaica. The problem is that he is one hundred percent Jamaican and he personally said this in a interview with FIFA. Many people would consider you a traitor for betraying your home country and going to play for another national team. Leon Bailey is taking a lot of hate from Jamaica and this could cause him to drift away from his country and just go play with another country. This would be tragic for Jamaica becasue he is a great player with tons of talent and this could be Jamaica's chance to win the World cup in the future. My personal opinion on this matter is that he is indeed betraying his country becasue many before him have done the same and and they have gotten a really bad reputation for this action. I think that many people leave or choose to not play for their home country because either they have bad chemistry with the team or the team is just really bad and they want a better team. It's totally understandable becasue everyone wants a chance to win the World cup and it's a really big deal. To win the World cup you need a really good team not just a alright team. Either way you should play for your home country no matter what and stand by your country good or not. I will comment on Caleb and Sasha's Post

If you had to decide between Mexico (your place of birth) or your place of residence U.S.A who would you have played for? Would American's think you betrayed them if you chose to play for El Tri instead of the Red, White and Blue?
